Erika Ivkov, Lyons volleyball: Ivkov and her fellow senior classmates ended a special run at Lyons with a state tournament semifinals appearance, just two years removed from the team's first-ever appearance at the Denver Coliseum. Ivkov was the go-to girl in pool matches Friday against Colorado Springs School and Limon, both wins, and that continued against a tough Yuma in the semis. Yuma went on to win the Class 2A title, beating two-time defending champion Resurrection Christian.

Conlan Berger, Longmont football: Facing a Pueblo South team known for its bruising style, Berger countered for the Trojans in the run game with equal ferocity in a playoff-opening blowout. Berger tallied 131 yards on just 16 carries, and four of those ended up in the end zone for touchdowns. Adding to the special day, though, was a 70-yard kickoff return for a TD and another 17-yard TD catch, giving him 26 total touchdowns this senior season.
