In an otherwise light slate of games Monday night, the Shining Mountain boys basketball team and the Lyons girls each advanced in district tournament action.
Lyons girls 38, Longmont Christian 35: Senior Olivia Raspotnik turned in a huge all-around game as the ninth-seeded Lions advanced. Raspotnik finished with a game-high 23 points and also added 15 rebounds, six blocked shots, and three assists.
Lyons trailed by one point going into the fourth quarter, but outscored Longmont Christian 15-11 in the final frame to advance in the Class 2A District 7 tournament. Lyons will visit top-seeded Highland on Tuesday.
Shining Mountain boys 75, Rocky Mountain Lutheran 24: The second-seeded Lions were never threatened while cruising to a first-round win the Class 1A District 8 tournament. Shining Mountain (18-2) will host third-seeded Jim Elliot on Thursday at 6 p.m. The Lions defeated Jim Elliot 74-38 on Jan. 22.
