LITTLETON -- After suffering its first loss of the season in a lopsided rout courtesy of the No. 1-ranked team in the state, the Boulder boys basketball team wanted to make a statement in its bounce-back game Tuesday against Littleton.

Ultimately, the Panthers did to Littleton pretty much what they endured in the loss against Denver East on Friday, jumping on the Lions before running away for what officially was ruled an 81-64 victory.

Boulder (5-1) actually scored 82 points, but a scorekeeping snafu wiped a successful free throw off the scoreboard.

"I thought we were still a little bitter from the East game and we carried some of that over," Boulder coach Eric Eisenhard said. "That was good to see. There were still some peaks and valleys in that game and we still haven't put together a complete game. But I was happy to come on the road and win, and there definitely were some moments in that game that we can improve off of."

Boulder knocked down its first four 3-point attempts, including a pair out of the gate by senior Jonah Charnick, as the Panthers raced to a 17-3 lead.

Littleton made a run in the second half and nearly made a controversy out of Boulder's missing point. Charnick made all four of his free-throw attempts in the second quarter, but one of them was marked as a miss. Despite protests from the Boulder bench, the point officially was vacated.

The Lions pulled within eight on the adjusted scoreboard in the fourth quarter, but Charnick and Alejandro Rodriguez sparked a 10-2 Boulder run that put the game away.

"It was good we won by almost 20," Eisenhard said. "That gave us a little leeway."

Charnick officially ended with 21 points and Rodriguez added 19.
