Each week, the BoCoPreps.com staff will highlight a handful of active local athletes from a variety of NCAA sports, catching up on where they are in their respective collegiate careers and any recent accomplishments they may have had.

Cross Country

• Ricardo Ocampo, Broomfield Class of 2014: The Colorado School of Mines men won their second straight RMAC championship this past weekend, and Ocampo, a sophomore, was outstanding in placing second with a time of 25:12. The finish also meant first-team all-RMAC honors for the season, and Mines will be in pretty good position for a high team placing at the South Central Regional meet on November 4 in Canyon, Texas.

• Claire Green, Monarch Class of 2014: After breaking out for the Arizona Wildcats as a junior, Green has run three races this year ahead of the Pac-12 Championships and has finished first or second on the team in each race. Green placed 19th out of 288 finishers at the NCAA Pre-National race in Louisville on October 14. Green also earned second-team All-American honors in the 3,000 meter race for the indoor track season last winter/spring.

Football

• Sam Martin, Fairview Class of 2014: Now a senior at Miami (Ohio), Martin continues to play a lot of snaps for the RedHawks (3-5) and has had a nice bounce-back season from last year's seven-catch campaign. He currently sits fifth on the squad with 13 receptions and has the third-best average per catch at 14.5 yards. Among his highlights this year are three catches for 23 yards against Notre Dame on September 30.

• Gabrielle Eyl, Boulder Class of 2015: Eyl, who played two years at Boulder, is a junior for Northeastern University of the Colonial Athletic Association and has been an integral part of the team's success the past three seasons as a libero. Last year she ranked seventh in the nation in digs per set (5.47) and she is currently breaking that pace (5.59 digs/set) as NU has improved to 14-8. Eyl has surpassed 1,500 digs for her career.
